Folks sometimes ask me why I use the word "we" so much on the site. It's not anything "royal," not at all. Wherever I go on the hoops highway, I've got a little buddy who comes with me everywhere. He's orange, and his name is Bally.

Last Wednesday, Bally went to Elon, one of the very few schools with fewer letters in its name than his.

At Division I newcomer South Carolina-Upstate on Thursday, Bally hand-painted the school logo on the gymnasium wall. Just kidding, that was there before.

After Saturday's game at North Carolina A&T, a kid wanted to play rough with Bally, trying to throw him through the basket. Our li'l pal ran and posed beside this basket stanchion, before the kid was able to find him again and throw him against a wall.

Bally made another key mistake at The Citadel on Monday, stepping too close to the house of the Bulldogs' live-action mascot. No, General, noooo! He's too young! It's... not... time... for him... to die....

On Tuesday, Bally was on the edge of his seat as Winthrop played a close one with Liberty.

Fun fact: Bally is seven feet, three inches shorter than Kenny George.
