RICHMOND, Va. - Thank you for your repeat business. Before we get to the mailbag, credit where it's due.

Oral Roberts 78, Kansas 71 (Wed.) -- Kansas is undoubtedly the greatest program in the history of college basketball, with links that go as deep as the game's origins themselves. But lately, Beat Kansas has been mid-majordom's favorite amusement park attraction, with schools like Bucknell, Nevada and now ORU getting in on the fun (you must be slightly higher than the 2004 Pacific Tigers to ride this ride).

This one had a lot of the standard elements of a mid-major upset: outrebounded by a ton, lots of 3's, and a brave performance (A HREF=http://bbstate.com/players/52708>Marchello Vealy). But here's where it deviates from the script: the Eagles led for most of the game.

Butler 60, Indiana 55 -- In baseball, one for three will get you into the Hall of Fame, but in basketball a .333 average is certain death. The Bulldogs hit only a third of their shots from the floor, but went nuts from the line (including 10-for-10 by A.J. Graves) and only turned the ball over an 17.4% of their possessions. Indiana coughed it up at a rate of 29.6%, and there's the difference.

Now they're going to New York to be the annual mid-major that goes to a Garden Party where not everyone knows their name. Someone should have told the organizers that Indianapolis is kinda a home game for Butler.

Honorable mention to Nevada's vicious 75-47 throttling of Oregon State. And, as well, to the SEC-beaters: UCI over South Carolina, and Western Kentucky's smackdown of old coach Dennis Felton. Mailbag!

I think I remember that beer ad you mentioned yesterday. I want to say that it was L.A. (Low Alcohol) beer from Miller. Great taste with less of the drunkenness. So the people who bought the stuff before the pulled it from shelves had it all. I'm jealous of them.

Michelob Light. If I recall correctly, it was the first beer ad specifically targeted at women. Unfortunately the lyrics escape me.Keep up the good work. Hope to see you up at the Hart Center in Worcester this year!

Wow, talk about something being lost in the mists of time. l, so keep those attempts (or other beer comments) coming, as I do want to make this site the Internet's first mid-major hoops and beer "web portal." Who said you can't have it all?

i see that davidson is 329th out of 333 in the size of division-i schools. wofford is slightly smaller than us... who are the other three smallest?
