Forgive me for being repetitive, but as you may have already heard this is a big week for Wichita State. The Shockers are 23-0 and looking down the stretch of the Missouri Valley Conference slate. This has led the national media to quickly take sides: Will the Shockers be undefeated come March? Will they lose and prove they are mortal?
The regular season has become a no win situation for Wichita. If the Shockers drop tonight's game in Terre Haute, the collective sportz world will move on to another victim and claim the Shockers frauds or overrated products of a weak schedule. If they win, they were supposed to do that anyway so who cares?
I urge you not to fall into that trap. Wichita State and Indiana State should be a good game, because it has good teams in it. The Sycamores aren't likely to allow the Shockers to knock them around like they did less than a month ago
. Leading scorer Jake Odum isn't going to get held to single digits again (is he?).
So, as I suggested in this same space
when these two teams met before, don't worry about the long term results. Stressing out over undefeated records, seeding, or whether or not the team is 'legit' only takes the focus away from the floor. There is great basketball being played all over this country almost every night, enjoy it and worry about the future when it comes. The game is on ESPN3, so boot up your laptop for some fancy #pixlvision and enjoy the show.
