I'm not the biggest fan of Christmas music in general, but any song that has been covered by both
The Muppets (RIP John Denver) and the
guys from Strange Brew has a special place in my heart.
Of course, the biggest holiday in Our Game doesn't
begin for a couple more months, but with a few days off this holiday season to reflect on what we have to be thankful for, I've tried to find the 12 most inspiring NCAA Tournament moments from the history of Mid-majority.
Unfortunately, that rules out inspiring moments like
Hampton,
Valparaiso,
Coppin State, the
original Gonzaga, and -
yes - Princeton. And, there are some others that didn't make the cut, too, just as there are only 68 teams in the NCAA Tournament, there are only 12 days of Christmas, although we hear rumors that the committee has had preliminary meetings in Jerusalem to try to expand the field. Religious realignment may have to wait a little while, however.
Without further ado, the Twelve Days of Christmas, Mid-majority style:
On the first day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me .... a
Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the second day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....
two Patriots shocking the world, and a Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the third day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....
three Rams in the Final Four, two Patriots shocking the world, and a Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the fourth day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....
four Wildcats rolling, three Rams in the Final Four, two Patriots shocking the world, and a Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the fifth day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ...

On the eighth day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....
eight Eagles flying, seven Bison triumphant, six Demons jumping, five Catamounts shooting .... four Wildcats rolling, three Rams in the Final Four, two Patriots shocking the world, and a Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the ninth day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....

On the eleventh day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....
eleven Spartans dancing, ten Racers racing, nine Toreros advancing, eight Eagles flying, seven Bison triumphant, six Demons jumping, five Catamounts shooting .... (ba dum bum bum) four Wildcats rolling, three Rams in the Final Four, two Patriots shocking the world, and a Bulldog in back-to-back title games.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, Our Game gave to me ....

Hopefully, the 2013 version will include one or two new ones.
Merry Christmas, Mid-majority land!
