On the third day of Championship Fortnight, the first final was set. UNC Asheville, the No. 3 in the Big South, will face top seed Coastal Carolina on Saturday. There were nothing but upsets in the Atlantic Sun. No. 6 North Florida hung on to upend city rival No. 3 Jacksonville 68-64 in the Atlantic Sun quarterfinals, and No. 5 Mercer leveraged its hosting of the event into a ten-point win over No. 4 Lipscomb.
In the 8/9 game of the America East Conference, Binghamton destroyed UMBC 91-65 in a meeting of recent tourney champions. There was also a low-seed upset in the Valley pigtail between Bradley and Drake; the No. 10 Braves beat the No. 7 Bulldogs by 15 points. But the Northeast quarterfinals and the OVC second round went according to seed.On we go into the first full weekend of Championship Fortnight.
