Hinkle Fieldhouse. The very name oozes basketball history, if letters could ooze. For the first time in Season 7, we went to the home of the Butler Bulldogs on a mid-December Saturday night. It was cold (but not too cold), and the old barn was full (but not too full) as the suddenly .500 home team tried to right itself against a purchased opponent from the SWAC.



The press tables at Hinkle are as old as a lot of things. They were not built for small cute basketballs. So we repurposed a Qdoba Go-Tub into a high chair, and Bally was able to watch the game.

Not only is Hinkle a special place on its own considerable merits, we have so many special friends at Butler. Some go back with us to when this site was still in diapers! All night, we waved to folks in the stands who waved back, shook hands, and had to deal with press row party crashers on repeat occasions. We don't mind as long as building security doesn't.



But our favorite press row crasher of all was a 60-lb. English bulldog names @ButlerBlue2! We had our picture taken with him back at the BracketBusters game in 2007, but it came out really blurry because I had a horrible cameraphone back then. Thanks to Blue and his best friend Michael Kaltenmark for coming by and saying hello!
