Fort Wayne, Indiana is one of hundreds of far-inland American cities struggling to find an identity in the post-crash New Economy. For now, "sports tourism" will do. And we are sports tourists, and we are here. As for this shoe, perhaps they make a size 14 so that the design can be properly considered as a model for the Season 8 #kixx.



The War Memorial Coliseum is a large and slightly modern sports palace, a true community center, a D-League gem (home of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants!), and a building from which pride of construction and ownership simply oozes.

We witnessed the homestanding IPFW Mastodons pick up a non-league win over winless Toledo, and we held our nightly Twitter talk show. We discussed #superhoops, old movies, burritos, fog machines and popcorn. So it was pretty much like every other night, but it was in Fort Wayne. And we hope to be sports tourists here again someday.
