BBState Stats/Recap

wallsAlbany moved to Division I in 1999, and spent two years as an independent before the America East Conference took the Great Danes on. In their second and final season on their own, they finished 6-22. Last year, they were 7-25, a winning percentage of just five hundredths better.

trophy case

There is nothing in this trophy case about either season. They are more likely to talk about the mid-decade seasons, which yielded America East titles and featured No. 31, Jamar Wilson. The greatest moment in the school's D-I history was a close call as a No. 16 against No. 1 UConn in 2006.

The biggest day on the UAlbany basketball calendar is the annual crosstown game with Siena. Since the series was born at the D-I level back in 2001, the Saints have won seven of eight... but there was that 86-65 Scoobies blowout in 2004. This year, the capital city game is on December 4, but tickets are already available. There was a ticket window set up just for Siena game tickets.

SEFCU Arena is underground, and the stands are very, very steep.

stands

They are also collapsible. When the bleachers are pushed into the wall, and you're at court level, there is only one real way out and many fire doors. Once, when I was writing a game story, I was stuck in SEFCU Arena.

bally

This was the first game of Season 7, and Bally had the best seat in the house.

tip

The ball is tipped, and there you are!

Cornell was in town to begin the season. They played badly in the first half, but came back and won.

Bally got a blanket out of the deal, so he was pretty happy.
