Melvin Jones' Three-Pointer Sends Vikings To Big Sky Semifinal - Melvin Jones' three-pointer with 3.7 seconds left gave Portland State a 68-65 Big Sky Conference Quarterfinal round win over Montana State, sending the Vikings to Ogden, UT and a semifinal matchup with Weber State. Jones broke a 65-65 tie with his fifth three-pointer of the game and the Vikings beat the host Bobcats in Worthington Arena. PSU, now 13-18 on the season, will face top seeded Weber State, 19-9, on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. PT. The Vikings big concern going into the game was the health of Waters' bruised left heel. Waters did not practice prior to the game but looked good once the quarterfinal contest arrived. What did become a big concern was three fouls on Jamie Jones in the first 12:23 of the game, forcing the first-team All-Big Sky Conference post to sit the remainder of the half. At the time of his third foul, the Vikings led 20-17. (via Portland State)
