Bally Gras (and Other Delights)
February 24, 2009 10:21 pm ET by Kyle Whelliston

In honor of Fat Tuesday, here's Bally with a king cake on a recent Louisiana trip to Northwestern State. The plastic baby is usually hidden in the cake somewhere, and whomever gets the piece containing it is the king and has to buy the cake for the next party as proof of his (or her) ultimate Mardi Gras benevolence. After the jump, a magic internet picture book of some of King Bally's other travels.

Here's Bally trying to go incognito before a recent game at Northern Iowa.

Earlier this season, Bally met Chicago State play-by-play man Brian Snow. Like us, Brian started with nothing but a dream and enough talent to get a chance. Over a decade later, he's one of the best announcers on our side of the Red Line!

Bally loves going to Indianapolis to visit Butler University's Hinkle Fieldhouse. At his scale, though, the baskets seem like they're 45 1/2 feet high.

Speaking of Butler, Bally visited Davidson for the BracketBusters last weekend and tested the viscosity of the court logos.

Here's Bally with Chattanooga Times Free Press writer David Uchiyama, the chronicler of the Chattanooga Mocs' continuing legacy and the self-described Most Important Beat Writer in the SoConâ„¢. We're going to vouch for him on that, if only because he was the only scribe who was nice to me back when I was just a young upstart blogger, and one of the very few who will talk to me since January happened.

Bally's always with the band. Here he's practicing one of his favorite songs.

The little orange guy has lots of famous friends. Here, he's with Duggar Baucom, head coach of the Virginia Military Institute. This was taken right after the Keydets' 109-72 win at Liberty, so Coach's smile is just as wide as Bally's.

Don't forget that you can win your own Bally two different ways this week -- by auction or by contest -- and you can have your own fun adventures with The Mid-Majority's official mascot.
