Game! Of! The! Night! 12/3/2007: Towson at Delaware 
Towson at Delaware (Colonial) Bob Carpenter Center -- Newark, DE 7:00 PM EST After a crazy upside-down backwards day in the CAA, we get a night of hoops from members of what's been the bottom half of the league recently. It's the only conference game in Hoops Nation tonight, and it'll be chock-full of hot Tiger-on-Blue Hen action. Delaware (0-4) opens 2007-08 conference play in very similar fashion to its 2006-07 CAA season starter: with no wins and an undermanned roster. Sam McMahon, a 6-5 senior who would run through a wall if Monte Ross told him to (actually, he'd probably do that if you told him too, kid's tough) has 13.0 ppg, and so does fellow senior frontcourter Herb Courtney. But for a team that averages 62.8 ppg and has only eight guys who've seen action, double-figure scoring is more suited to the z-axis. If there's anything good that can be read from the season so far, the Hens only lost by one to a Hampton team that schooled VCU and annihilated league rival Howard over the weekend. Down at Towson, Pat's Cats are entering Phase Two of the Kennedy era, and have sewn together a W-L-W-L-W-L nonconference pattern so far that would look lovely in your den or living room. The Tigers don't have former LaSalle Explorer Gary Neal to pour in 28 points anymore, but the transfer party continues. The bulk of the production load now belongs to junior Junior Hairston, who's put up senior senior numbers so far since coming in from the College of Charleston: 15.3 ppg and 12.8 rebounds. Those glass-cleaning numbers are best among CAA players so far, and tied for third nationally. The only game in which Hairston hasn't double-doubled was the Samford win, where there were just too few possessions for anyone to get any stats. Is Towson reverting back to one-man-bandism, though?
